World Youth Day Pilgrimages
World Youth Day is a youth orientated Catholic Church event that takes place every two to three years in cities around the globe. It was established to make the message of Christ known to all young people worldwide. World Youth Day encourages the younger generations to share their faith among one another and give them a chance to meet like minded pilgrims in the process. It all began in 1985, when Pope John Paul II invited all the youth to Rome to celebrate Palm Sunday in St. Peter's Square. He declared this to be the first World Youth Day. For 2016, the city of Krakow in Poland will host this wonderful event. This great festival of faith, life and youth, takes place over 5 days in Krakow, building up to a wonderful encounter with the Pope, with an estimated 2,500,000 other young people.
World Youth Day Programme
- During our programme to World Youth Day we will take part in the Opening Mass, the Catechesis, workshops, talks, concerts and exhibitions. Listen to the Word of God and celebrate the Way of the Cross. Partake also in the Evening Vigil with the Holy Father the most personal part of the central events. It is a unique time of prayer and meeting with Christ and it has an atmosphere of concentration but also great joy. Some of our programmes also include a visit to the spectacular Wieliczka Salt Mines
