Pilgrimage Itinerary
Day 1 - Friday, 25 May - Arrive Vienna /
Late morning check in at Dublin airport for Aer Lingus flight to Vienna. On arrival meet the coach and driver to take a panoramic city sightseeing tour of the Vienese highlights including the monuments, museums and palaces. St. Stephen's Cathedral. Vienna is the home of Mozart, Schubert, Beethoven, Brahms, Strauss and Vienna Boys Choir. Check into hotel for 2 nights with breakfast. Dinner in hotel this evening. ~~
Day 2 - Saturday, 26 May /
Scenic Vienna Woods. Vienna's most beautiful surroundings, the Vineyards, the Cistercian Abbey of Heiligenkreuz and the Memorial Chapel of Mayerling. Stop in the Roman city of Baden for lunch on the way back to Vienna. Some free time back in your hotel before leaving for dinner at the Kursalon music hall in Vienna, followed by an evening of Strauss music.~~
Day 3 - Sunday, 27 May /
Drive to Kerms to join a 3hr cruise on the River Danube to Melk. Relax as you cruise through the Wachau Region, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage. Take time to enjoy lunch on board and take in the beautiful surroundings and history. Continue to Salzburg. Check into hotel for 2 nights with breakfast and dinner.~~
Day 4 - Monday, 28 May /
Morning visit to Hitler's Nest which was built as a teahouse for his 50th birthday by the Nazi party. After lunch return to Salzburg for sightseeing tour of Salzburg and follow the trail of the iconic film the Sound of Music. Maybe some time for shopping. ~~
Day 5 - Tuesday, 29 May /
Morning drive in Oberammergau a small village where once every 10 years the world famous Passion Play is performed by the people of the village in thanksgiving at been saved from the plague more than 300 years ago. After time for lunch we continue with a visit to the Swarovski crystal factory and showrooms on route. Check in to hotel for
overnight, dinner bed and breakfast. ~~
Day 6 - Wednesday, 30 May /
After breakfast depart for Switzerland. Drive through the Austrian Tirol. Pass by the ski slope of Bergisel Olympic Stadium, towering high above Innsbruck. The ski jump is a sight to behold. Arrive in Lauterbrunnen where we leave our coach and take the little cog train to Wengen (a quaint little village with snowcapped Mountains in the background) and check into our hotel for 2 nights with breakfast and dinner. ~~
Day 7 - Thursday, 31 May /
Fabulous full day trip to Lauterbrunnen, Murren, Schilthorn, Stechelberg and the great Trummelbach Falls. Travel by mountain railways and cable cars, and have lunch in the rotating restaurant on the Schilthorn peak. This is where the James Bond film �On Her Majesty's Secret Service� was shot. ~~
Day 8 - Friday, 1 June /
Free time in Wengen to enjoy rambling around this nostalgic picture postcard mountain village. Or enjoy the pool and spa in the hotel. Late afternoon depart for Zurich airport for Aer Lingus flight to Dublin arriving in Dublin at 11 in the evening.~~
