Pilgrimage Itinerary

Day 1
Check in at Dublin Airport for flight to Lisbon. There will be a Marian Pilgrimages Representative to meet you and assist with check in. On arrival in Lisbon you will be met by your Guide and escorted to the coach for your transfer to Fatima where you will check in to your Hotel on full board basis. Depending on arrival time you will receive a light snack or dinner before settling into your room.

Day 2
The coach will pick us up at the Hotel directly after breakfast for our morning trip to Valinhos and Aljustrel. Our first stop will be Valinhos where Our Lady appeared on the 19th August in 1917 as the children had been taken in for questioning by the authorities on the 13th and were not at the Cova D'Iria. After praying at this very special place we will walk to the Cabeco where the angel appeared to them the 1st and 3rd of the three times he appeared in 1916. We then proceed to Aljustrel the village where the three little Shepherds were born. We visit their homes and the well at the bottom of Lucia's garden where the angel appeared the 2nd time. Our last stop before we return to the Hotel will be Fatima Parish Church. There we will see the Baptismal Font where all three were baptized. Return to Hotel for lunch. In the afternoon attend Holy Mass in the Capelinha and then have an introductory tour of the Sanctuary seeing the Capelinha, the Rosary Basilica, Statue of the Sacred Heart and water fountain, candle area, Berlin Wall, Chapel of Adoration, Reconciliation Chapel and Basilica of the Holy Trinity. Return to Hotel for dinner followed by Rosary and Candlelight procession.

Day 3
This morning there will be an optional half day excursion to the city of Santarem where we will visit the Church of St Stephen also known as the Church of the Eucharistic Miracle. There we will celebrate Holy Mass and venerate the Sacred Host that miraculously bled in the year 1247, as the result of being treated with disrespect. Afterwards there may be a little time for leisure before returning to Fatima for Lunch. In the afternoon spend some free time visiting the tombs of the shepherds or spend a while in the museum of light and peace where you can see the bullet in the Crown of Our Lady, the Irish Monstrance and many beautiful artifacts donated to the Sanctuary from all around the world. After dinner there will be rosary at the Capelinha followed by Candlelight Procession.

Day 4
After breakfast we will meet in the Sanctuary where we will have Holy Mass in a Private Chapel for our group. Then some free time to shop or spend some time in private prayer. After early lunch there will be an optional trip the seaside town of Nazare. Here we will first stop at Sitio on the cliffs and go to the Church of Our Lady of Nazare to visit the ancient statue of Our Lady dated back to the early days of Christianity that legend tells us may have been carved by St. Joseph. Afterwards we will drive down to the promenade where there will be some time to browse in the shops or sit and have coffee or some fresh sardines for which Nazare is famous. Return to Hotel in Fatima in time for dinner and then attend the Rosary and Candlelight procession.

Day 5
This morning after breakfast we will depart the hotel on foot to walk the Hungarian Way of the Cross (a gift from the Hungarian People). As we walk through the olive groves on the path that Francisco, Jacinta and Lucia would have taken many times on their way to the Cova D'Iria we pray the stations of the cross. We finish at the beautiful little Chapel of Saint Stephen where we can celebrate Holy mass and climb the steps to the Calvary on the roof of the chapel from where there is a beautiful view taking in Aljustrel, Fatima Parish Church and the Rosary Basilica. Return to the Hotel for lunch. In the afternoon have some free time to return to your favourite places from the pilgrimage or spend the time in private prayer. After dinner there will be Rosary and Candlelight procession in the Sanctuary.

Day 6
Free morning in Fatima with lunch at the Hotel. In the afternoon we depart the Hotel and head for Lisbon. In the suburb of Lumiar in Lisbon we will stop at the Church of St. John the Baptist where we will visit the reliquary which houses the skull of our own dear St. Brigid and celebrate Holy Mass before proceeding to the Airport for our return flight to Dublin.

*It is our intention to follow the itinerary as outlined above, however due to many factors like local holidays, traffic or weather conditions it may be necessary to make changes to the order of events or even the cancelation of certain events.
