Proposed Pilgrimage Itinerary *
Day 1 - Monday 18th August - Depart Dublin
Begin your journey by checking in at Dublin Airport for a direct flight to Bilbao. Upon arrival, you'll be greeted by
your guide and transferred to your hotel in the picturesque town of Navarrete, where you'll spend the next two
nights. Take the evening to relax and settle in.
Day 2 - Tuesday 19th August | Belorado to St. Juan 24.2km (Short Walks Available)
After a hearty breakfast, transfer to the quaint village of Belorado to start your first walk. Follow a scenic path
alongside the N-120 as the landscape gradually opens up, offering views of the surrounding countryside. You'll
ascend through the oak and pine-covered Montes de Oca, enjoying the peaceful, shaded trails. Descend to the
tranquil village of St. Juan, where you'll be picked up and returned to the hotel for a well-deserved rest.
Day 3 - Wednesday 20th August | Walking St. Juan to Burgos 26.1km (Short Walks Available)
Start your morning with breakfast before heading back to St. Juan to continue your walk. The day begins with a
peaceful trek through the Montes de Oca before descending into the verdant Pico River valley. As you approach
the bustling city of Burgos, the serene countryside gives way to urban scenery. Check in at your hotel in Burgos,
where you'll stay for the next three nights.
Day 4 - Thursday 21st August | Burgos to Hornillos 21.1km (Short walks Available)
Today's walk begins with a transfer from Burgos to the start of your route, which leads you through wide, open
fields of the Meseta. The expansive plains offer panoramic views, especially from the top of the Fuente de Prao
Torre. After descending into the peaceful village of Hornillos, meet the coach for your return to Burgos.
Day 5 - Friday 22nd August | Hornillos to Castrojeriz 20.1km (Short Walks Available)
After breakfast, transfer back to Hornillos for another beautiful day of walking. This segment of the trail, though
exposed to the sun, passes through the charming villages of San Bol and Hontanas, offering moments of serenity.
The journey ends at the historic village of Castrojeriz, where you'll transfer back to your hotel in Burgos.
Day 6. Saturday 23rd August | Castrojeriz to Fromista 24.9km (Short Walks Available)
Fuel up with breakfast before transferring to Castrojeriz. Today's route is a highlight, as you climb the Alto de
Mostelares for incredible views of the surrounding valleys. Descend towards the tranquil Canal de Castilla and
continue your journey into the town of Fromista. Afterward, transfer to your hotel in Carrion de los Condes for a
peaceful two-night stay.
Day 7. Sunday 24th August
Take advantage of a free day to explore Carrion de los Condes at your leisure. Wander the historic streets, visit
local churches, or simply relax and soak in the peaceful ambiance of this charming town.
Day 8 - Monday 25th August Day of Departure
After breakfast, transfer to Bilbao Airport for your return flight to Dublin.
This trip is to raise funds for the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind. A minimum donation of €500 per person is not included in the price above. Participants will be required to register with the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind charity and donate a minimum of €500 directly to them.
It is advised that people wishing to partake in this walking pilgrimage consult their doctor on their fitness to take part before booking. Each walk day will consist of 5 - 8 hrs of moderately difficult walking with uneven and rough terrain in parts.
*It is our intention to follow the itinerary as outlined above, however due to many factors like local holidays, traffic or weather conditions it may be necessary to make changes to the order of events or even the cancelation of certain events.
