Day 1 - Sunday 3 November - Arrive Tel Aviv
Morning check-in at Dublin airport for Turkish Airlines flight to Tel Aviv via Istanbul. Coach transfer to the Hotel in Galilee for 3 nights with dinner and breakfast.
Day 2- Monday 4 November - Sea of Galilee
Visit the Mount of Beatitudes, overlooking the Sea of Galilee, for a reading of the great Sermon on the Mount. Visit Capernaum, where we see the old Synagogue and the excavations of Peters house. Visit the site of the multiplication of the Loaves & Fish at Tabgha, and the church of the Primacy of Peter on the lake-shore. Boat trip across the Sea of Galilee to Tiberias, with relevant Bible readings.
Day 3 - Tuesday 5 November - Cana and Nazareth
Drive to Cana. Visit the church of the Wedding Feast – site of Jesus’ first miracle and share a Prayer of Thanksgiving for the gift of marriage. Continue to Nazareth to the Basilica of the Annunciation. See the Cave home of the Holy Family, Joseph’s workshop, and Mary’s Well. We will visit ‘Nazareth Village’, an open-air museum that reconstructs and reenacts village life in the Galilee in the time of Jesus. The village features houses, terraced fields, wine and olive presses all built to resemble those that would have been in a Galilee village in the 1st century, with the option of taking part in a traditional ‘Passover Meal’. Afternoon drive to Mount Tabor and visit the church of the Transfiguration. Continue to Yardenit Baptismal site at the River Jordan. Dinner at hotel.
Day 4 - Wednesday 6 November - Jericho to Jordan
Morning drive along the Jordan Valley into Jericho. Here we see the Sycamore tree of Zacchaeus and take the Cable car up the Mount of Temptation to the exact location where the Devil tempted Jesus during his forty-day fast (Luke 4:1). Continue to the Dead Sea – the lowest place on Earth, and enjoy a “dip” near Qumran – where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. Cross the Allenby Bridge into Jordan and drive South to Petra for 2 nights, dinner, bed & breakfast.
Day 5 - Thursday 7 November - The Lost City of Petra
This morning, you will transfer to the “lost” city of Petra! This city is located amongst rugged desert canyons and mountains. Enjoy a walking tour of the former capital and trading center. Your first stop will be a visit to the Siq, a mile-long gorge that contains a number of magnificent structures that are carved into the mountains. The walk will culminate with a visit to the Petra Museum. The Museum holds numerous artifacts from the Neolithic period of the Nabataen history. The museum also contains architecture from the Romans as well as a Byzantine chapel. See Mount Hor with the tomb of Aaron, brother of Moses. Return to hotel for dinner.
Day 6 - Friday 8 November - Mount Nebo
Morning drive to Amman, capital of Jordan. Nearby visit Mt. Nebo, the most revered holy sites of Jordan. This mountain was mentioned in Deuteronomy 34, “Then Moses climbed Mount Nebo from the plains of Moab to the top of Pisgah.” While here, you will tour the Holy site of where Moses died and was buried. Following your visit to this Sacred place we re-cross the Allenby Bridge and drive via Wadi Kelt to Bethany where we visit the tomb of Lazarus. Continue into Jerusalem for 3 nights dinner & breakfast.
Day 7 - Saturday 9 November - Mount of Olives
On the Mount of Olives, group photo, and view the Old City. Visit the Ascension Dome, Pater Noster church, Dominus Flevit, Assumption church and Grotto, and the Garden of Gethsemane. Afternoon visit church of St Peter in Gallicantu – church of the Cock-Crow, and see the dungeon where Jesus was held on Holy Thursday night. On Mount Zion, visit the church of Dormition, Tomb of David, and the Room of the Last Supper. Dinner at hotel.
Day 8 - Sunday 10 November - Jerusalem
Morning in Old City of Jerusalem. Visit church of St Anne and Pool of Bethesda. Walk the Via Dolorosa to the church of the Holy Sepulchre and see the Rock of Calvary. Visit the Western Wall, The Temple Mount & then The Garden Tomb. Then a short drive to Bethlehem. Visit the church of the Nativity and see the birthplace of Jesus, the Holy Manger, the churches of St Jerome, St Joseph, and the Holy Innocents. Visit the Milk Grotto, and the Shepherds Fields. Drive to Ein Karem (birthplace of John the Baptist) and visit the churches of the Visitation and John the Baptist. Dinner at hotel.
Day 9 - Monday 11 November - Depart Tel Aviv
Early breakfast. Drive to Tel Aviv airport for return flights to Dublin via Istanbul.
