Pilgrimage Itinerary

DAY 1 - 30th April

We will depart in the morning from Dublin to Venice. Upon arrival we will meet our tour escort and drive to our hotel in Padua.

Padua Padua, both a living religious monument and centre of revolutionary learning. The Basilica of St. Anthony has for over 800 years been calling the faithful, who continue to arrive to pray at the tomb of St. Anthony is usually called simply 'The Saint'. Home to Italy’s second oldest university, founded in 1222, Padua has retained the vivacious atmosphere of a university town, with lively piazzas and arcaded streets.

This afternoon we will celebrate the opening Mass of our pilgrimage in the Basilica of St. Anthony of Padua, the powerful Franciscan preacher and teacher. Afterwards we will enjoy a tour of the basilica and time for private prayer at the tomb of the patron saint of lost and stolen articles.

DAY 2 – 1st May

This morning we will travel to the unique city of Venice.

Venice is truly a city like no other with few cities able to claim such an abundance of monuments, ancient bridges and piazzas and a heritage as Venice. One cannot help but be captivated by its beauty from its architecture, gondola-filled canals, and picturesque bridges.

We will celebrate Mass in the impressive St. Marks Basilica and later have time to admire its luminous mosaics. Beginning in the heart of the city, accompanied by our local guide, we will walk through the quaint cobbled streets and cross the picturesque bridges that piece through the wondrous city that fuses elegance. We will have time at leisure with the opportunity for shopping or to enjoy the experience of a gondola ride through the canals of this wondrous city.

DAY 3 – 2nd May

This morning we will celebrate Mass at the Shrine of St. Leopold Mandic. Although frail in health and of small stature, the Capuchin friar was full of spiritual strength and was a true apostle of the confessional and his great gift of compassion attracted many people to come to him for spiritual advice and guidance. After Mass we will visit the confession room where the capuchin spent many hours each day and have time for prayer at the tomb of this wonderful saint.

We will have the afternoon at leisure with the opportunity to spend time at “Prato della Valle”, one of the biggest squares in Europe or to visit the Scrovegni Chapel which is adorned with the frescoes of Giotto, dating back to the 13th century, depicting events from the Old and New Testaments.

DAY 4 -3rd May

After breakfast we will check out of our hotel and drive to Venice airport for our return flight home.

*It is our intention to follow the itinerary as outlined above, however due to many factors like local holidays, traffic or weather conditions it may be necessary to make changes to the order of events or even the cancelation of certain events.
