Thursday, 5th July
We will depart in the morning from Dublin to Naples. Upon arrival we will be met by our tour escort and transfer to Pietrelcina, birthplace of St. Pio. We will celebrate the opening Mass of our pilgrimage in the Church of the Holy Family in Pietrelcina and afterwards take a walking tour of the town visiting the home of the Forgione family where Padre Pio was born and the Church of Sant’Anna where he was baptised.
We will transfer to nearby Piana Romana where we will see the tree beneath which Padre Pio received the invisible stigmata before continuing onto San Giovanni Rotondo where we will stay for the following four nights.
Friday, 6th July
This morning we will celebrate Mass in the ancient church and afterwards visit the English office where we will learn more of the life of St. Pio and receive a blessing with the glove and crucifix of the saint.
In the afternoon we will have a tour of the sanctuary visiting the capuchin friary where the humble friar lived and died and see the crucifix before which Padre Pio received the gift of the stigmata, almost 100 years ago.
After a visit to the upper Church of St. Pio of Pietrelcina and Chapel of Adoration we will arrive at the crypt of St.Pio and have time for private prayer before the mortal remains of the saint on this, the 50th year of the anniversary of his death.
Saturday, 7th July
After breakfast we will travel to the town of Monte Sant’ Angelo. We will celebrate Mass at the Shrine of St. Michael the Archangel and afterwards have time for shopping and personal sightseeing.
In the afternoon we will visit the nearby St. Matthew’s monastery and receive a blessing with the relic of St. Matthew and holy oils. This evening after dinner we will have the opportunity to attend the Marian torchlight procession.
Sunday, 8th July
We will celebrate morning Mass at the old tomb where the remains of St. Pio rested for over 40 years. Afterwards we will walk the Stations of the Cross and have the afternoon at leisure for private prayer.
Monday, 9th July
This morning we will travel to the town of Lanciano, site of the first Eucharistic Miracle of the Catholic Church. We will celebrate Mass and afterwards have free time for lunch. In the afternoon we will continue onto the town of Loreto where we will stay for one night on a half board basis.
Tuesday, 10th July
This morning we will celebrate Mass in the Basilica of the Holy House of Nazareth. Afterwards we will visit the Holy House of Nazareth, which, according to tradition is the same walled chamber that existed in Nazareth where the Blessed Virgin Mary was born, brought up and received the gift of the Annunciation. We will enjoy a tour of the basilica - one of the most treasured and venerated shrines dedicated to Our Lady throughout the world. After free time for lunch we will depart Loreto and travel to Montecatini where we will stay for two nights on a half board basis.
Wednesday, 11th July
This morning we will visit the house where St. Gemma Galgani was born and "Casa Galgani", where she received the Holy Stigmata. In the garden we will see the little well into which she threw herself during temptation and the staircase where St. Gemma fell, thrown by the devil.
We will celebrate Mass at the Passionists Monastery and venerate the remains of Saint Gemma Galgani.
We will have time at leisure in the afternoon to enjoy some of the sights of the quaint town of Lucca before returning to our hotel in Montecatini.
Thursday, 12th Jul
We will have an early morning departure from our hotel in Montecatini with packed breakfast and transfer to Pisa airport for our return flight to Dublin, arriving into Dublin at 10.00 am.
