Pilgrimage Itinerary
Day 1
Check-in at Dublin airport for Delta Airlines flight to Mexico City via Amsterdam. Transfer to hotel for 4 nights, dinner, bed & breakfast.
Day 2
Morning visit to the shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, where we remember the apparitions, to St. Juan Diego, and see
the Tilma – cloak of Juan Diego – with the miraculous image of Our Lady. Visit the New and the Old Basilicas, and the Museum. Walk up Tepeyac Hill – to the site of the miracle of the Roses. On the way down we visit the chapel of the Well and the parish of Indians. Panoramic tour of Mexico City including : Metropolitan Cathedral, National Palace, Independence Monument, Museums, Galleries, and Parks.
Day 3
Visit the Chapel of St Francis, Temple of St Philip, and see the national museum of Anthropology. At San Jacinto Plaza, we pay tribute to the San Patricios – the Battalion of St Patrick – to honour the Irish soldiers who gave their lives for Mexico in 1847. Drive to the Pre-Hispanic city of Teotihuacan – see the Avenue of the Dead, Pyramids of the Sun and Moon.
Day 4
Day trip to Pueblo. Visit the church of St Dominic and pray the Rosary in the chapel of Our Lady of the Rosary.
Visit the Cathedral of Puebla of the Angels, and a Talavera fine china factory. Mass in Santa Maria Tonanzintla
followed by a visit to the church of St Francis where we find the incorrupt body of Bl. Sebastian of Apparitious.
Return to Mexico City via Churubusco, to see the Castle of San Patricio.
Day 5
Morning drive to Morelia. Visit the Cathedral, and the XVI century Temple of the Augustinians. Continue to Guadalajara and check into hotel for 2 nights, dinner, bed & breakfast.
Day 6
Drive to Zapopan for Mass in the Basilica of Our Lady of Zapopan – a place of many miracles. Return to Guadalajara and visit the Cathedral, the Zocalo (Main Square), Temple of the Blessed Sacrament, the Rotonda de los Jaliscienses Illustres with its 17 columns and 98 Urns, see the Hospicio Cabanas, the State Government Palace, Carmelite Monastery, Plaza de la Liberacion, and the City Hall.
Day 7
Drive to the town of San Juan de los Lagos. Mass in the Basilica, and see the precious, tiny image of Our Lady of San Juan. Continue to Guanajuato for 2 nights, dinner, bed & breakfast.
Day 8
Morning visit to Cubilete Hill to see the monument to Christ the King and celebrate Mass in the chapel. Guanajuato is famous for its Silvermines, and today we visit the Bocamina Mine. We see the Basilica, The Temple of Valenciana, Plaza de la Paz, Legislative Palace, Juarez Theatre, Cervantes monument, and the commemorative statue of El Pipela.
Day 9
Mass in the Basilica of Our Lady of Guanajuato, followed by a visit to the Mummy Museum and Municipal Cemetery. Afternoon return to Mexico City for final dinner and overnight.
Day 10
Transfer to Mexico airport for return overnight flight to Dublin via Amsterdam.
Day 11
Connect with flight to Dublin. Arrive at Dublin airport.
*It is our intention to follow the itinerary as outlined above, however due to many factors like local holidays, traffic or weather conditions it may be necessary to make changes to the order of events or even the cancelation of certain events.
