Day 2 Drive to Zariquiegui. Begin our walk at the village church with a gentle climb up the Sierra del Perdon, passing the “Fountain of Denial” on the way. From the top, we enjoy the views of Pamplona to the Pyrenees on one side, and the Valdizarbe Valley on the other. Continue our walk through the villages of Uterga and Muruzabal to Obanos where we have a picnic lunch. From Puenta La Reina we travel by coach to Estella and walk via the free flowing wine fountain to Irache. Drive to Santo Domingo for overnight, dinner, bed & breakfast. Today's walks: 21km. Day 3 In Santo Domingo we may visit the Cathedral (Adm. fee) to see the tomb of St Dominic and hear the legend of the roasted cock. Cross the great bridge over the River Oja and follow the path via the “Cross of the Brave” to Granon and on to Redecilla. Here in the Parish Church we find one of the jewels of the Camino – a 12th century Romanasque Baptismal Font. Picnic lunch in Castildelgado. Drive to Belorado. Walk over the River Tiron bridge and follow the track to the village of Tosantos where an old Hermitage can be seen dug into the hillside. Continue to Villambistia where we re-join our coach and drive to our hotel near Burgos for dinner and overnight. Today's walks: 19 km. Day 4 In Burgos we visit the Cathedral and see tomb of El Cid, the Golden Staircase and the Flexible Crucifix. Drive to Boadilla and walk alongside the Canal de Castilla to Fromista. Picnic lunch. In the town Square we see the statue of St Elmo and the nearby churches of St Martin & St Peter. Walk to Poblacion and continue by the River Ucieza, through Villovieco, pass the Hermitage of the Virgen del Rio, into Villacazar. Drive to our hotel in Leon for 1 night, dinner, bed & breakfast. Today's walks: 18 km. Day 5 Drive via Astorga and Ponferrada to O Cebreiro, a mountain-top village with thatched Palozas and the Church of the Eucharistic Miracle. Walk through Linares and Padornelo, pass the church of Santa Maria – commissioned by the Order of Malta – to Fonfria. Picnic lunch. Drive via Sarria and the submerged village of old Portomarine, to San Paio. Walk to Lavacolla for the traditional wash, and on to Monte do Gozo overlooking the city of Santiago de Compostela. Drive to hotel for overnight dinner, bed & breakfast. Today's walks: 22 km. Day 6 Visit the Cathedral of St James. See the Portico of Glory, the Jesse Tree, and greet Master Mateo. Embrace the Statue of St James above the High Altar, and visit his tomb in the Crypt. Take part in the Pilgrims Mass at 12 noon. Afternoon transfer to Santiago airport for Aer Lingus flight to Dublin. Flight departs at 15.40 and arrives at 16.50.
